Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 4 Ep. 7 Review: Back on Track
The action and story pick up in Crunchyroll's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc S04E07: "Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima."
Last weekend's episode of Crunchyroll's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc, S04E07: "Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima," was the pickup of the season so far. We get to learn about Gyomei's past and Tanjiro makes some strides toward completing training. The Demon infiltration has been discovered, and it is time for the two characters to finally come together.
Tanjiro manages to move his boulder one chō as instructed. He gets to understand the technique and pull strength from his lower body. Not only that, but you can clearly see the mark on his forehead, starry as the sun mark, instead of going back to the original scar shape. Hmm… does this mean he has managed to keep it active like the breathing? Once again, this inspires Inosuke and gets him to slowly start moving his own boulder. Zenitsu, on the other hand, is being pestered by his bird, Chuntaro, who is trying to get him to look at a letter he just delivered.
Tanjiro does not take into account his destiny and passes out dehydrated. I could not get enough of his expressions this episode, they had me screaming. I need screenshots to use for moods. The episode is mostly the conversation Gyomei and Tanjiro have as Gyomei acknowledges the boy and his hard work and pure heart. It is very sweet the way the Hashira takes to the boy – and his past is so insanely sad. I liked Gyomei when I read the manga, but once again, the anime has made the characters more impactful than they were on the pages. I really like how Gyomei comes across as balanced and strong, and you know that comes from a horrific past filled with loss and betrayal. In his case, betrayal from the kids he raised and cared for. It was hard to watch and definitely sobering. However, the Hashira promises Tanjiro that he will be there to help him not stray from his path. I nearly teared up with Tanjiro.
Before moving on to Giyu's Training session, Tanjiro brings some for to Zenitsu and it is clear something is wrong. However, the boy refuses to say a word, encouraging Tanjiro to do what he must, and when he walks away, we see Zenitsu's face covered in blood. I do not usually like him, but I feel bad for him. At Giyu's, Tanjiro finds him Training shadings the wind Hashira, Sanemi. Tanjiro, not realizing it, interferes and asks Sanemi about his like for mochi and ends up being punched for not reading the room properly. Sanemi walks away grumbling and catches the Demon eye that has infiltrated, knowing immediately what has happened.
Not much happened, but it was a great episode. In the end, though, we see Muzan walking slowly, and we realize he is heading toward Ubuyashiki's home. It took quite some time, but he finally got there, and for once, Muzan and Ubuyashiki came face to face. I have a feeling things will not turn out well, and I hope we do not face yet more loss. I am sad there is only one episode left. Once again, this arc really benefits from being a film rather than broken into episodes. That said, I cannot wait to see where things end with Crunchyroll's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hashira Training Arc.
