Doctor Who: It's About Time The TARDIS Publishes Her Personal Memoirs

With the TARDIS being the star of Doctor Who, it was only a matter of time before she had a tell-all memoir (like most British celebrities).

The TARDIS is arguably the real star of Doctor Who. Even the haters never objected to her being female. Doctor Who isn't what it is without the TARDIS. Without her, the show is just about adventures. She is the real brand of the show. She is the Doctor's safe space, protector, transport, house, bedroom, and womb. She is bigger on the inside than on the outside. The TARDIS is everything. "Did you ever wonder why I chose you all those years ago? I wanted to see the universe, so I stole a Time Lord, and I ran away…" The TARDIS is the true romantic of the series, so of course, she would finally get around to writing her tell-all memoir. Every British celebrity writes a tell-all memoir eventually, usually in time for Christmas sales, so why should the TARDIS?

Doctor Who: Now The TARDIS Publishes Her Memoirs, and Why Not?
Glamour shot of The TARDIS from "Doctor Who", BBC

The Doctor has a unique bond with their TARDIS. They've always loved the 'old girl' for the way she's gone looking for trouble anywhere in the universe. The Doctor says they stole the TARDIS from Gallifrey. The TARDIS disagrees…she stole them. It hasn't always taken the Doctor where they want to go, but it's made sure to take them where they need to be.

Doctor Who: The Show's Biggest High Concept

The TARDIS is far more than just a time machine crossed with a spaceship. Its life reflects the Doctor's life – a shared wanderlust and longing to explore. Now you can revisit the Doctor's adventures as seen through the eyes – or the flashing rooftop light, at least – of the TARDIS. From the time the Doctor stole it from Gallifrey to its latest adventures with the Fifteenth Doctor, the TARDIS reflects wittily on its epic, incredible history – past, present, and future! She is a crazier Science Fiction concept than you realise – she knows all of Space and Time and everything that will and must happen. She takes The Doctor exactly where they need to be, even if it looks like she's landed where they didn't want.

Coming soon, BBC Books will publish the first memoir from the TARDIS. Packed with stories from across time and space, and featuring exclusive photography, experience the Whoniverse through the eyes of the TARDIS. Who was hired as her ghostwriter, I wonder? Every celebrity memoir has a ghostwriter. Did The Doctor help? That wouldn't be surprising. I, TARDIS will be available in both hardback and audiobook (CD and Digital Download) from 11th July 2024 – and it can be pre-ordered here.
