Emma, Darren Young, and Summer Rae Released Form The WWE
Emma, real name Tenille Dashwood has been released by the WWE this morning.
This is a little out of nowhere. After finding success in NXT, she was moved up to the main roster where her fun-loving attitude and weird dancing got her over quickly with fans. Right as she was getting a push however, she was arrested on theft charges after being arrested at a Walmart in Hartford, Connecticut in 2014. Considered an innocent mistake after talking to Jim Ross, she was released and quickly brought back.
After that she found more success returning to NXT and turning heel and feuding with the likes of Bayley, Charlotte, and of course Asuka. After being called up to the main roster again, she bounced around not doing much. When an injury put her on the shelf, vignettes started airing for months advertising her return as a new character Emmalina. She made one brief appearance on an episode of RAW before the character was quickly scraped and she made her return as heel Emma again, claiming to have started the Divas Revolution. She had two matches in the last week with Asuka, serving as her main roster debut opponent.
But…what if this is yet another swerve? Maybe Emma has been released to make way for Emmalina! They have certainly done wackier and stupider stuff in the past. The build to Emmalina was completely botched the first time, maybe this was the plan all along. Which would be great, because Dashwood is very talented and they have completely misused her. I am sure she will have tons or success outside the E.
The WWE released a statement explaining the move and what went wrong.
Just kidding, of course they didn't.
WWE has come to terms on the releases of WWE Superstars Emma, Darren Young and Summer Rae.
WWE wishes them the best in all of their future endeavors.
Ugh, the old "future endeavors".
Also seeing release is Total Divas star Summer Rae, and Darren Young, who was the first openly gay Superstar on the roster. neither was doing much of anything as of now anyway. Hopefully Young and Emma find their footing in the Indies like others have as of late.
