Star Trek: Prodigy: Hagemans, Waltke Post Season 2 Messages for Fans

Star Trek: Prodigy creators Kevin & Dan Hageman and writer/EP Aaron J. Waltke messaged fans before Season 2 debuts on July 1st on Netflix.

At this point, it's just a waiting game. Of course, we're talking about the time between when this is being written and the debut of the 20-episode second season of Emmy Award winners Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman's (Trollhunters, Ninjago) Star Trek: Prodigy on Netflix (with the first season currently streaming). Of course, once that happens, then plans shift to the next phases – blowing up those streaming numbers so Netflix has no choice but to give a green light for a third go-around (something Kate Mulgrew would like very much, so let's not disappoint her). For the fans who fought the good fight to get the hit animated series a new home and are counting down the hours, Kevin Hageman, Dan Hageman, and writer/executive producer Aaron J. Waltke have messages for you.

"On the eve of #StarTrekProdigy S2 airing on [Netflix], we want to send out a heartfelt 'thank you' to everyone blasting out your love for the show. There's a lot to unpack, so try to hold back on #spoilers," Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman tweeted earlier today. Waltke added in his tweet, "It is the eve of #StarTrekProdigy Season Two arriving on Netflix. What a long, strange trip it's been to get here. I won't belabor it, but the outpouring of support from the #StarTrek community has meant everything to the cast and crew. Ours is the little starship that could" – making sure to remind fans to watch, spread the word, and to make sure that they use #StarTrekProdigy and #ProdigySpoilers when they post.

In Season 2, the six young outcasts who make up the Prodigy crew are assigned a new mission aboard the USS Voyager-A to rescue Captain Chakotay (voiced by Robert Beltran) and bring peace to Gwyn's (voiced by Ella Purnell) home world. However, when their plan goes astray, it creates a time paradox that jeopardizes both their future and past. Now, here's a look back at what the Hagemans and Waltke had to share with the fans earlier today:

The Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2 voice cast includes Kate Mulgrew (Hologram Kathryn Janeway), Brett Gray (Dal), Ella Purnell (Gwyn), Rylee Alazraqui (Rok-Tahk), Angus Imrie (Zero), Jason Mantzoukas (Jankom Pog), Dee Bradley Baker (Murf), John Noble (The Diviner), and Jimmi Simpson (Drednok). Joining them this season in recurring roles are Robert Beltran (Captain Chakotay), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Jason Alexander (Doctor Noum), Daveed Diggs (Commander Tysess), Jameela Jamil (Ensign Asencia), Ronny Cox (Admiral Jellico), and Michaela Dietz (Maj'el). Now, here's a look at some preview images from the season ahead of tomorrow's premiere:

Netflix's Star Trek: Prodigy is from CBS' Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios' animation arm, Nickelodeon Animation, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers, alongside co-showrunners Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman. Ben Hibon directs, executive produces, and serves as the creative lead of the animated series. Aaron Waltke and Patrick Krebs also currently serve as co-executive producers.
