'Van Helsing' Season 4 Stakes Claim to Battlestar Galactica's Tricia Helfer as Dracula; 4 More Cast
Battlestar Galactica star Tricia Helfer (Number Six) is set to return to SYFY in a role (…wait for it…) she can really sink her teeth into, with the actress joining the fourth season of action-horror series Van Helsing in a role that seems only fitting for a show about vampires: Dracula. Helfer won't be the lone new face when the series returns this fall: Richard Harmon (The 100), Nicole Munoz (Defiance), Keeya King (Jigsaw), and WWE professional wrestler/actor Paul "Big Show" Wight (Happy!) will also join the series, in undisclosed roles.
"We are thrilled to welcome the talented Tricia Helfer to our Van Helsing family. She will be a fierce and unstoppable DARK ONE (Dracula)…as the battle between good and evil reaches new heights."
– Chad Oakes, Executive Producer/Co-Chairman, Nomadic Pictures
Van Helsing is set in the near future, where vampires have risen and taken control. Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton) is humanity's last hope, as her unique blood composition gives her the ability to turn vampires human. With this secret weapon, Vanessa becomes a prime target for the vampires. Van Helsing comes from the producers of Fargo and Hell on Wheels. Acclaimed director/playwright Neil LaBute serves as showrunner.
In season one, Vanessa Van Helsing awakens from a coma to discover the world has been overtaken by vampires. Her blood can turn vampires back to human, meaning she's the last hope for the human race. As she searches for her daughter, she must fend off the vampires who see her as a threat to their very existence.
In the second season, Vanessa finds her daughter. Now she's determined to save her – and the human race. But new threats from the vampire world could spell humanity's doom.
In the beginning of the third season, Vanessa is once again resurrected and must confront her family's legacy. Axel, Scarlett, and the others fend off Blak Tek's forces who hope to add Scarlett to their list of lab rats.
