WWE Raw Report 6/15/2020 Part 3 – The Legend Killer is Back

Well, it's been a long night, but it's not over yet. It's time for hour three of Monday Night Raw. A lot has happened tonight, very little of it has been wrestling, and Bobby Lashley is getting a divorce. Dominic Mysterio conducted a guerilla attack on Seth Rollins. R-Truth got Drew McIntyre into a bad situation when he agreed to put both of their titles on the line in a match against MVP and Lashley. The Viking Raiders and Street Profits teamed with the Big Show to fight ninjas. Randy Orton challenged Christian to one more match. And more, probably. Read all about it in part one and two of our WWE Raw report.

The Street Profits and Viking Raiders try to figure out backstage how they can finally settle their ongoing contest. Big Show walks past, and Montez Ford thanks him for helping them out with the ninjas earlier. Show says he's enjoyed their rivalry, but he knows how they can settle it. Next Monday, they need to wrestle in an actual wrestling ring for the WWE Tag Team Championships. All five men agree that they want the smoke. Show even does the musical version with a little dance.

It's time for the biggest match of the night. No, not Randy Orton vs. Christian. It's R-Truth and Drew McIntyre vs. MVP and Bobbly Lashley. I'm just gonna say it: screw whatever the PWI 500 says, R-Truth is the wrestler of the decade. Week after week, month after month, year after year, he is consistently the most entertaining part of Monday Night Raw.

Unfortunately, he is probably going to get his ass kicked and lose Drew McIntyre's title tonight. McIntyre and Lashley start things off in the ring. They lock up to start, with Drew getting the better of it. Then the shoving begins. Then the chopping. McIntyre beats on Lashley in the corner, in the other corner, and in the middle of the ring. Lashley heads to the ropes for a breather, then manages to get the upper hand.

Lashley hits a big spear in the corner that doubles McIntyre over. He tags in MVP, and they go for some tandem offense, but McIntyre cleans house instead. He hits MVP with a backbreaker and prepares for the Claymore, but R-Truth tags himself in. MVP tags in Lashley, and now it's time for Truth to take a beating on the outside. But we won't get to see it, because Raw goes to commercials.

Back from break, Lashley pummels Truth around the ring. He beats him and chokes him in the corner then hits a big spear—Lashley tags in MVP, who hits a running big boot in the corner. MVP gets a two-count as McIntyre bites the ropes in disgust. Truth dodges another big boot attempt and hits a jump kick on MVP. MVP tags in Lashley as Truth tags in McIntyre. McIntyre hits a belly-to-belly on Lashley, but Lashley elbows out of a Future Shock DDT and tags in MVP. But when McIntyre tosses Lashley, MVP tries to run.

McIntyre chases him and throws him in the ring. Drew hits a flying clothesline off the top rope, then the DDT, but the pin is broken up by Lashley. Truth gets in, but Lashley tosses him. Lashley tries to spear Truth into the stairs, but Truth trips him, and Lashley hits them head-first. In the ring, McIntyre hits the Claymore on MVP, but instead of pinning, tags in Truth who hits a splash and gets the pin. R-Truth just successfully defended the WWE Championship, and this is, officially, the best episode of WWE Raw in a long, long time.

Backstage, Ric Flair says hello to Christian. He tells Christian that he's not ready for this. Flair says Orton is on top of his game. He's mean, sadistic, and out to prove a point. Ric says Christian's family and the locker room will forgive him for backing out. But Christian isn't going to back down. And neither are the advertisers, so it's commercial time.

Sasha Banks and Bayley head to the ring. Oh, so they were there earlier? Sasha Banks and Bayley are legit afraid of the Iiconics! Tom Phillips tells us it's Bayley's birthday and plugs their match against Tegan Nox and Shotzi Blackheart on NXT on Wednesday.

Bayley talks about how she and Sasha defended their titles last week, breaking Sasha's streak of never ever successfully defending a title since she joined the main roster. Bayley says she's going to celebrate her birthday all week, starting on Raw, then on NXT when they whoop on Tegan Nox and Shotzi Blackheart. Then, on Smackdown, they'll finish the week strong.

Sasha Banks addresses The Iiconics. She says the Iiconics can't tell them what to do and starts rattling off all of her and Bayley's nicknames. The Iiconics come out and tell them no one wants to hear their resumes. Billy Kay wants an answer to their challenge. Bayley says they already lost at Backlash. Bayley says they'll win in any match. Billy points out they beat them for the titles at WrestleMania in 2019 and then Bayley and Sasha cried on the floor. Peyton Royce says they couldn't handle the pressure then, and they can't handle it now.

Sasha starts to talk back, but Peyton slaps her. Bayley flips out on them for ruining her birthday and accepts the match. Sasha doesn't seem pleased with this outcome. Tom Phillips cues up a recap of the Seth Rollins/Dominic Mysterio segment earlier. I cue up my DVR's fast-forward button. Rey Mysterio will be on Raw next week.

Nia Jax heads to the ring for a Backlash championship rematch against Asuka. The match at Backlash ended in a double count-out because sometimes you just gotta save the good stuff for free television. Because then you can cut to commercial right before the match starts.

After the commercials, Asuka heads to the ring. She survived a match with ol' Butterfingers Jax without incurring a significant injury, and now she thinks she's invincible. Can Asuka escape this match with her health intact, much less her championship?

Asuka tries a dropkick to start, but Jax shrugs it off and hits a clothesline. Asuka gets the armbar on Jax early, and Jax rolls to the apron, but Jax dodges the butt attack and, oh god, she's going for some kind move on the apron! Get out of there, Asuka! Asuka gets the octopus on Jax and gets back in the ring. Asuka tries some kicks on Jax, but Jax punches her in the face. The camera catches a really bad whiff on a kick from Jax, then Asuka locks in the armbar again, but Jax rolls out of the ring.

Asuka goes for a baseball slide, but Jax catches her and powerbombs her on the floor. Raw goes to commercials so the doctors can check on her. Back from commercials, Jax has Asuka in the Torture Rack. Jax drops her, and Asuka hits some running knees on Jax for a two-count. Asuka goes to the top rope, but Jax stops her with an elbow. Jax climbs on the second rope and goes for a Samoan Drop, but Asuka slips through and tries a sunset flip powerbomb.

That doesn't work, but she hangs Jax on the ropes and hits a double stomp. Asuka hits some kicks on Jax, but Jax gets up from her knees and hits a headbutt, then a Samoan Drop, but Asuka gets her foot on the rope. Jax shoves the referee to the ground, probably giving him a concussion. The ref is about to disqualify Jax, but Asuka rolls her up, and the John Cone does a fast-count instead. Jax looks pissed. Nobody seems to have any broken bones. I'll call that a win.

Backstage, Charly Caruso talks to Randy Orton. Orton asks Charly if she thinks Christian is a legend. Charly says, yes. Randy agrees. Then he asks her if she knows what unsanctioned means. He explains it means there are no rules. No regulations. It means in a few short minutes, the legend of Christian will be destroyed by the three most destructive letters in sports entertainment: JAX. No, sorry, that's RKO. Commercials.

Have I mentioned before how much I hate the catchphrase, "the three most destructive letters in sports entertainment?" It's such a dumb thing to say. Anyway, it's time for the main event, and time for Randy Orton to end Christian's career… again!

There are just seven minutes left in the show, but this probably won't take even that long. Christian comes out to the ring, looking like a man who knows he's about to die. And out comes Randy Orton, with the look of a man who just s**t in someone's bag in the locker room. Samoa Joe says it doesn't feel like a match; it feels like somebody hunting prey. Joe says Christian should leave for his own safety.

Just as the announcements start, Ric Flair comes to the ring. He gets in the ring and grabs the mic. He tries again to talk Christian out of this. Ric asks Randy to cut Christian some slack. Christian grabs the mic and says he has to do this. The bell rings, and… Ric Flair hits Christian in the nuts. Orton punts him. Orton gently rolls Christian over and pins him.

After the match, Orton pets Christian's head and whisper sweet nothings in his ear. Orton says he's so sorry, but this was Christian's fault. Orton didn't want this to happen. He orders some officials to take care of Christian as a stretcher comes out. Orton seems really regretful. But then he starts shouting at Christian again. It's your fault! Then he begs for forgiveness again. God, I love this, Randy Orton.

That's all for Raw. There was very little wrestling. Like, an unusually small amount even for WWE Raw. But even so, I was sports entertained pretty much throughout, and the parts I wasn't entertained by were over pretty quick. God help me… did I like Raw tonight? Was Paul Heyman holding Raw back all along?
