Peter Sailer has the full liveblog.

At San Diego Comic Con, ComiXology has just confirmed this week's breaking story on Bleeding Cool, that they will be introducing DRM-free as an option to publishers.

Files will be available in PDF and CBZ format.

By own research indicated that current DRM-free publisher Image Comics will be first in line for this from ComiXology. I understand that Dynamite will be right behind them. ComiXology have also confirmed Thrillbent, Top Shelf, Monkeybrain, Zenescope will be join them.

Other publishers, like Boom!, will be playing wait-and-see…

In the panel, ComiXology explained that they get the question regarding DRM every year, and previously said that it was more important to get publishers onboard and no publisher wanted to do it. Now that has changed with Image and Top Shelf offering DRM-free themselves and that "it's the publishers choice how they want to do it, we'll build it."
