Exactly What Credits Scenes And Cameos You Can Expect In The General Release Of Guardians Of The Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy
I've just seen The Guardians Of The Galaxy on general release with my eldest daughter. First she loved it, and loved Groot most of all (much more than Rocket to my surprise). And now I have lots of seventies and eighties music to play to her.

Second, I thought it was pretty nifty as well, and closer in tone to the Avengers movie than any of the others. I'll probably do a proper piece on it later.

And third, because people care, there was only one post credit scene, the one posted elsewhere widely, with a certain feathered friend. But it is not the first appearance of the character in the film… Because I had spoiled myself on it (as have you just now) I looked out for him in the Collector's menagerie. And yes, as well as Laika, if you look towards the back, you will see the blurred yellow and white of Howard The Duck. Trapped in a container he never made.

There is also, however, a pre credit scene between the Guardians Of The Galaxy Will Return splash and the credits themselves. No major revelations… except for what has to be a toy for Christmas. A little Groot in a pot, dancing away to Peter Quinn's mixtape. And reminiscent totally of those Coca Cola dancing plants with sunglasses. Yeah, merchandise, baby, merchandise. If not Christmas, then a San Diego or NYCC exclusive. I want one, Eve wants one and after seeing it you will want one too.

As for the film? Well, a little time to digest please. I may write something later, and Patrick Dane just did, but yes, there is Stan Lee cameo, as a philandering gent being mocked by a Rocket, we see the many realms, the tesseract, and Jack Kirby Celestials filling the screen – including a surviving head making up the asteroid planet of Knowhere and a reworking to the joke that usually ends "you shag one sheep…"

And, yes, Rocket is just great. But, hell, they all are.

Oh and the real winners in this film? Apart from the makers of eighties music mix albums? Those familiar with physics. Science comes in really handy througout…
