Greg Capullo To Leave Batman In 16 Issues – And Bring Back The Creech With Scott Snyder (UPDATE)

Thanks to Bleeding Cool Editor-In-Chief Hannah Means-Shannon, we've been hearing about Greg Capullo's Spotlight panel at at Baltimore Comic Con.

Which included Greg's plans on DC Comics' Batman title – that he has sixteen issues more to draw on the comic until he is finished. The combination of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo on the title rocketed it back up to the top of the charts after the New 52 relaunch, Capullo supplanting Jim Lee as DC's most commercially popular artist. Since then – and again in August, Batman has repeatedly topped the charts.

So the news that Greg Capullo only plans sixteen more issues on the book is probably quite big for them. But he's not planning to stop working with Scott Snyder. Instead he plans to bring back his creator=owned Image title The Creech. but with Snyder writing.

And in the manner of the New 52, he's planning to reboot The Creech too.

UPDATE: Looks like they're reading Bleeding Cool in the room. Hannah writes that Greg Capullo's wife came up to show Greg her phone – "Oh, I accidentally announced the end of my contract on Batman".

Yes, Greg, you kinda did…

UPDATE x2: Greg has now tweeted out,

Never said 16 issues is the end of my Batman. My contract is up in 16 issues. I may do Creech or a might be dead. Who knows?

Well now, it's clear what he at least intended to say.
