Anna's Letter To Carl In Today's Walking Dead

Once of the criticisms that The Walking Dead is that it tends to forget the zombies.

Today's issue, #133,  proves that a) that most definitely isn't true but b) it's indicative of the fact that the comic isn't actually about the zombies, but that the survivors are the Walking Dead. And that people have a constant habit of putting off the thing that most upsets them, dissonating so that they can get on with their lives in the face of true suffering and not just fall apart into jelly on the spot. So the people forget the zombies for certain moments, they have to, or everyone would be dealing with ulcers.

And that's also what this issue of The Walking Dead does as well. Takes a moment for pure, utter, teenage angst, with something out of a teen romance novel. And amidst the death and destruction and impending doom that is also most definitely present, a girl can write a letter to a boy and change the world.
