Glory And Riches! Donald Quest #4
Honestly, I really like this new world for the Disney characters. Mickey is still trying to save the day for the greater good, and Donald is trying to save the day so he can be rich…and pay back Uncle Scrooge. Thankfully he has his three nephews as his voice of reason, reminding him that their now stolen hammer was never his, Mickey had entrusted him, and now that the hammer was stolen by Pete, the fate of their universe was in peril. Or at least until Donald is invited to a Beastmasters class. There we see Pete (with the hammer!) trying to swindle people out of their money.
Throwing Donald into such an important role is a good way for his character to develop. Writers Stefan Ambrosio and Chantel Pericoli are taking care to make sure Donald eventually sees that this quest isn't about him. Deep down he knows he's somehow let Mickey down, who is his best friend. Mickey is still the go too good guy. He's thrown into a hard situation where his life is on the line, but he faces the challenge with bravery and wit. Even nefarious Pete is made out to be a sympathetic enemy when his love interest betrays him!
Stafano Zanchi is still pumping out great art. The creative and wild world of Feudarnia is brought to life, but it's done so in a way that isn't overwhelming, nor does it interfere with the the focus of the panels. The whole creative team should be proud of this comic, it's pretty excellent.
