Will The CW Add Some More Spark To The Arrowverse?
Recently Fox decided not to take the high profile Black Lightning series to pilot, likely it's because of a genre filled line-up that already includes Gotham and Lucifer and will be gaining the X-Men. So Warner Bros TV started looking for a new home for the project and Deadline says that it's likely to be the CW. The series is being put together by Greg Berlanti, Mara Brock Akil and Sam Akil… so they might have an in with the folks at the network. And it's not like the idea is unheard of as two other Berlanti projects, Supergirl and Riverdale, started on other networks before finding a home at the CW.
Besides being the only African-American hero toplining a series on broadcast television, but the fact that Jefferson Pierce is the father of two daughters who both become heroes would also make the series unique. Anissa Pierce, aka Thunder, is part of the Outsiders, and Jennifer Pierce, aka Lightning, is with the Justice Society of America.
During the TCA's the CW's president Mark Pedowitz said they weren't planning on any new DC superhero shows, but left the door open to unique opportunities like Supergirl… or possibly Black Lightning.
