Chris Pine Takes A Shot On Marvel And Compares Superhero Films To Modern Myths

Chris Pine did an interview with Screenslam and the big talking point out of it is that he took a shot at Marvel. But he really isn't. The actor who is best known as the new James T. Kirk takes on the role of Steve Trevor in the Patty Jenkins directed Wonder Woman and talked about how this film was lead by a character about love and hope. He then compared that to Infinity War and asked if we need a never ending war. It comes across to me as more of a comment on the title and not how Marvel makes films.

The more important thing to take from this interview is his answer to the second question on why Superhero films are having such an influence now. It's been said many times within the comic industry that superheroes are our modern day myths. They no longer take on the role of explaining the unknown, but they do present the idea of hope and that man can be more than he currently is. Its nice to see that concept being brought up in the film industry as well.

As for why he seems so fidgety in the interview… I have no idea.

Wonder Woman is in theaters now.
