DC Digital Just Ordered A Harley Quinn Animated Series

Batman: The Animated Series turned 25 years old this year, and with it, the bestest henchwench in comics, Harley Quinn.  True, she didn't show up until later in the cartoon, but she's remained a focal character in the Batman Rogue's Gallery.

Deadline just broke the news that Warner Brothers digital platform has ordered 26 episodes of half-hour adult animated action-comedy series Harley Quinn, from Powerless executive producers Justin Halpern & Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey via Warner Bros. Animation.

DC Digital Just Ordered A Harley Quinn Animated Series

This is early 'developmental art' by Amanda Conner, released today by Warner Brothers.

Harley Quinn will reportedly feature Poison Ivy as another main character and is the third series to be greenlighted for the new DC SVOD platform, joining live-action Titans, from Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter.  There is also talk of bringing back an animated version of Young Justice.

The outlet goes on to say the series will be focused on Harley Quinn. She has finally broken things off once and for all with the Joker and attempts to make it on her own as the criminal Queenpin of Gotham City. The series features Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and a whole cast of heroes and villains, old and new, from the DC Universe.

Deadline also says Margot Robbie who brought Harley Quinn to the big screen in Suicide Squad is very interested in voicing the character in this project.

We'll let you know as more information about this project becomes available.
