Eve Ewing and Kevin Libranda Launch New Riri Williams: Ironheart Series from Marvel in November
Eve Ewing is an academic, a poet, and a playwright — and now the new writer of Riri Williams: Ironheart, a new series being launched by Marvel in November, with art by Kevin Libranda.
Riri Williams is the wunderkind from Chicago (like Eve) who reverse engineered Iron Man's costume in school and then built her old model. She starred in the Invincible Iron Man series while Tony Stark was in a coma, alongside an AI version of Tony Stark, and is a member of the Champions team. And now, her own solo book.
Eve tweeted out her reaction as the news broke with the Chicago Tribune.
She told them how while she was touring for her poetry book "Electric Arches" in late 2017.
… she saw an email from Marvel in her inbox. Titled: "Marvel calling," she said she almost fell out of her chair. Asked about her reaction when Marvel welcomed her into the fold, she said, "It's been like a recurring sense of wild emotions."
There were petitions and calls last year for Marvel Comics for Eve to write the character. Looks like someone was listening and thought it was a cracking good idea. She talks to the paper here (if you are in Europe, you will need a workaround).
But she has also taken to Twitter….
