'Zombieland: Double Tap' Shows New Poster, Rosario Dawson Joins Cast
Two exciting pieces of news for Zombieland fans. Firstly, the sequel finally has an official title–Zombieland: Double Tap. Second–Rosario Dawson's joined the cast.
The Clerks 2 star joins an already loaded cast including original stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin. Also new to the cast are Zoey Deutch and Avan Jogia.
Fans craved for the sequel since the original's release in 2009. Unfortunately, director Ruben Fleischer and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick found themselves high in demand after the film's success. Amazon Prime announced a TV series with different actors in the roles of Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock, but the horrible reception caused its abrupt cancellation.
Since the 2009 Sony film, Fleischer went on to direct films and TV series like Gangster Squad, Netflix's Santa Clarita Diet, and Venom. Reese and Wernick worked together on the Deadpool films, Life, and Wayne for YouTube.
The horror-comedy starts with Columbus (Eisenberg) trying to survive the zombie apocalypse making his way west to see his family when he runs into Tallahassee (Harrelson), a proud redneck with an affinity for assault weapons, trucks, NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, and killing zombies. During a run at the grocery store to satisfy Tallahassee's craving for Twinkies, they run into Wichita (Stone) and Little Rock (Breslin), a pair of grifters scamming their way before and during the apocalypse.
While Zombieland took the foursome to a theme park, Double Tap, according to Deadline, continues on the comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland.
Zombieland: Double Tap comes to theaters October 11.
Are you looking forward to it? Who else do you hope will at least make a cameo like Bill Murray? Sound off.
