Starbreeze Studios Sells Dhruva Interactive to Rockstar Games
As Starbreeze Studios slowly heads down the downward spiral to bankruptcy, the company has decided to sell off some assets to try and stay afloat. Today the company announced that they sold one of their development studios, Dhruva Interactive. They originally kept the name of the buyer a secret, but the word eventually got out that Rockstar Games were the ones behind the purchase. What few details about the acquisition were made live on Starbreeze's website.
The preliminary purchase price of Dhruva is agreed to 7.9 MUSD and Starbreeze holds 91.82% of the shares in Dhruva. The consideration is subject to final accounts post closing. 15% of the purchase price will be held in escrow for 36 months, of which 50% will be released in 18 months.
This makes the second development studio Rockstar Games now owns in Bangalore, India, as they already established their own studio as Rockstar India. Now it appears both companies will be working side-by-side on whatever it is Rockstar has planned for them.
