Is Today's Invaders #9 the First Marvel Comics Tie-In With HOXPOX?
We would not be the first people to notice a phrase used in House Of X #1, of Professor Xavier announcing to the world that things were a little different now, with the introduction of Krakoa as the new home for mutants, medicinal and longevity bribes handed out to compliant world governments…
…. and a previous iteration of that phrase by the mutant Atlantean lord Namor, The Sub-Mariner, when written by Jonathan Hickman in Fantastic Four #585 a few heady years ago.
And, notably, we haven't seen Namor in House Of X and Powers Of X yet, given that he is a notable mutant and has been involved with previous radical iterations of the X-Men. Of course, he is busy elsewhere. And no more so than in today's Invaders #9, where fresh from the revelations that Professor X had messed with his mind many years before…
…and gave him a very different backstory and current reality as a result…
…the question was, was all this being written independently of HOXPOX? Perhaps not. From today's Invaders #9…
The current Krakoa situation? I think that may be the first HOXPOX reference in the Marvel Universe outside the HOXPOX books.
Invaders #9 byChip Zdarsky, Carlos Magno, Butch Guice, Alex Guimaraes, Travis Lanham and Carlos Lao is published today. So is Powers Of X #4 for that matter.
