"Rumor Engine" Today Appears Chaotic – "Games Workshop"

Hello, loyal readers and fans of Games Workshop's miniature games! Today (February 4th), Games Workshop, via the "Rumor Engine" of the Warhammer Community news hub, gave us quite a small teaser in the form of an image of what looks like… Well, you tell us what you think it looks like:

See, at first glance that looks like the business end of a hammer, sledge, or mallet of some sort, and I'm pretty sure that is exactly what it is. However, I think the big question that needs to be asked is the exact nature of said hammer-head. As some other sites have noted, it appears similar to an older Rumor Engine teaser that we still haven't seen in a public release as of just yet, shown below:

So clearly, the two sledge heads strike a remarkable resemblance to each other – both have ornate, flat-ended heads, and a bit of spikey adornment at the point just below the heads – but obviously they are not the same hammer. In grayscale obviously I could be stating this with oversight to what I'm actually looking at but the first sledge looks like it's made from stone while the second looks like it's made from metal. The first hammer-head looks as if the pole is going through it while the second looks like it's been forged of the same material as its pole.

Some have speculated that these are for the same unit of model, and that's totally a valid consideration. However, to talk about both together seems like we are overlooking the big question: Who made the hammer?

My theory: This is a Chaos Dwarf hammer made by Games Workshop for their upcoming game, Warhammer: The Old World.

Yes, I'm calling this now. Even though the old art above this paragraph shows a number of skulls in the imagery of the weapons, it is entirely plausible that the Chaos Dwarfs, who we have not seen much of at all as of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, will be reworked heavily when they inevitably, albeit eventually, get a release in plastic.

What do you think? Am I off the mark, or am I spot on? If I'm wrong, just where did that mallet come from? Let us know in the comments!
