Marvel has released a lettered preview of Powers of X #1, the 6-issue series running alongside House of X as part of Jonathan Hickman's line-wide X-Men relaunch, designed to bring the X-Men back to their rightful place of prominence. House of X appeared to be a success, at least in getting people talking about the X-Men again, though there's still a long way to go to see if it will have the desired effect.
But while House of X establishes a new status quo for the X-Men in the present, Powers of X #1 jumps 100 years in the future, which explains why all the unlettered preview art to this point has featured seemingly new characters, though they do have the traits of familiar mutants. Is this the result of natural procreation between the X-Men of today, or some kind of sinister genetic manipulation?
We'll have to read the actual issue to find out, but this short preview alone is enough to stir up all sorts of questions, and also to put names to some of the mutants we've been seeing. Check it out below.
