A Comic Show – Where Are Jeff Lemire's Haters?

Aaron Haaland of Florida's A Comic Shop writes;

Hey Fandom! I'm back with some New Comics Now including my favorite book of the week, TRILLIUM!

So, Jeff Lemire did it again. Trillium is pure comic alchemy; it incorporates the format of the single issues into the storytelling! Yes, flipbooks have been done before, but this time both stories lead to the center where the staples are. That is where or to young lovers meet, and the story from either cover is that character's POV up until they meet. Strip away the crazy past and future, soldier and scientist elements and this story is still freaking awesome. It's a genre book that still has Lemire's slice-of-life feels. I highly recommend it! JMS' Sidekick was a classic innocence lost tale with a twist ending that sustained my curiosity. Robocop was great not just for the old school Frank Miller script, but damn that was some good art! And SAGA had its first t-shirt.

Hickman gave us the final prelude before next week's insane INFINITY #1. Superior Spider-man continues to be a favorite of mine. I love how SpOck treats Peter's villains so poorly. Superior FOES is a truly unique book on the Marvel racks, Spenser made me care about Boomerang! And Deadpool Kills Deadpool is so out of touch with reality…Pandapool! Either that excites you or it doesn't. I love Panda's, my nickname is Panda Baron!

DC didn't disappoint with new writers clicking on three titles. Venditti's GL has the build toward Relic and the Lightsmith's going, can't wait for the Relic villains issue next month. Swamp Thing added Soule, Whiskey, and Constantine and it's been just like heaven. Phantom Stranger's Trinity War tie-in worked for me. I haven't been reading the book, and it made me want to both track down DeMatteis's other issues as well as check out the next issue while giving some more insight into Dr. Light's Trinity War "issues".

Thanks for watching and get ready for next week as Saga, Infinity, and East of West fight for the best book of the week title!
