Do you like Animal Man? Of course, you like Animal Man. Created by Dave Wood and Carmine Infantino in 1965, he was revived by Grant Morrison, Chas Truog and Doug Hazlewood in the eighties for DC Comics as part of what would one day be Vertigo Comics. The first superhero to throw a jacket over a spandex costume, he told tales of family life and superheroing, as continuity and reality crashed down around him, breaking the fourth wall long before Deadpool, inspired by Bryan Talbot. A lot of stuff has happened in the interim, including his own daughter growing up into Animal Girl. But now he's the subject of greater indignity in the first issue of Absolute Power, written by Mark Waid, who was Morrison's editor on Doom Patrol.
