Aspen's Legend Of The Shadow Clan Shows Off Its Incentives

Legend Of The Shadowclan by David Wohl, Brad Foxhoven, Cory Smith and John Starr is a new comic from Aspen coming out in February, one of ten new books for Aspen's tenth anniversary. Naturally they'd like retailers to order lots of copies. And they've been watching how the big boys do it. I can see influence from IDW, Boom, Valiant and even Millarworld in this launch incentives. For each successive offer, the retailer will also receive all the previous offers too.

For every 50 total combined copies of the standard and Reserved edition covers ordered, retailers will receive 1 (one) FREE signed and numbered copy of the standard cover accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

For every 100 total combined copies of the standard and Reserved edition covers ordered, retailers will receive 1 (one) FREE CGC 9.8 copy of the Reserved edition cover.

For every 250 total combined copies of the standard and Reserved edition covers ordered, retailers will receive 1 (one) FREE original hand drawn art cover by series artist Cory Smith.

For every 750 total combined copies of the standard and Reserved edition covers ordered, retailers are eligible to receive any quantity of those copies with an exclusive cover featuring their store logo or image incorporated into the cover illustration. Qualifying retailers will be contacted to confirm the specifics of your exclusive image. Your cover will also be listed on the inside front cover, directing customers on where to acquire your retailer exclusive cover!

(Limit of 5) For every 1500 total combined copies of the standard and Reserved edition covers ordered, those retailers will receive a special store signing appearance by a creator(s) of the book, receive 200 additional past Aspen exclusive comics for the signing, and be included in an interior ad page of the comic helping to promote the event. Qualifying retailers will be contacted to confirm the specifics of your signing.

Orders are due today. For a comic priced at one dollar retail, for many stores this could be a bargain way to get a store appearance by out of town creators paid for, and a whole bunch of covers exclusive to your store to promote it with.

They are also doing the "reserved cover" incentive, pioneered by Valiant and nicked by IDW for retailers to encourage people to preorder copies by giving them their own cover. And for those who preorder all ten Aspen "10 For 10", Aspen will give them a free poster featuring all ten books later in the year…
