Booze Geek: Warrior IPA
Beer: Warrior IPA
Brewery: Left Hand Brewery
Note: only brewed once a year
Left Hand Brewery busts out their once a year special IPA, Warrior. Adorned with the face of an alluring femme fatale, Warrior packs a mighty hop punch.
Warrior is gorgeous reddish amber in color. It creates a medium sized head when poured and it lasts for some times. It gives off an extremely sweet, citrusy scent, along with the presence of hops and pines.
When drank, I found this beer to be very hoppy. I would not go as far to say it is a hop bomb; rather, the hops work in its favor here. They give it quite a tasty, fruity quality to it. I will warn, though, that it, like other IPAs, has a bitter finish. On the palate, it felt full, with a definite carbonation presence. I would recommend Warrior as a sipping beer.
Overall, I liked Warrior quite a bit. The hops presence may certainly ward off some, but I rather enjoyed the citrusy taste of it. If anything, it at least smells fantastic.
What to Drink This To: In the realm of fiction and history, there have been many warriors. But for me, when I glance at this bottle and then started drinking, all I could think of David Mack's phenomenal series Kabuki. Bar none one of the greatest comics I have ever read, I would highly recommend tracking down the first trade of Kabuki and sipping the Warrior IPA as you read it.
