Ch-Ch-Changes – DC Confirms Cancellation Of Vibe And Katana, And Artist Inflation On X-Men Battle Of The Atom [UPDATE]
DC Comics have informed comic book retailers that the final issue of Justice League Of America's Vibe will be issue 10, in December. Hence its absence in January's solicitations, noted by Bleeding Cool.
Its planned art team of Andres Guinaldo and Mark Irwin has been replaced with Derlis Santacruz and Wayne Faucher.
DC have also confirmed that Katana #10, shipping in December, will also be its last issue.
Battle Of The Atom #2 will now add artists Giuseppe Camuncoli, Kris Anka, Chris Bachalo, and Stuart Immonen to the originally solicited artist Esad Ribic, to help with a later script than planned for.
Equally Uncanny X-Men #13 has added Tim Townsend, Al Vey, Mark Irwin, Jaime Mendoza and Victor Olazaba as inkers.
[UPDATE: Bendis states: It is a nice surprise at the very end of the event. we have a handful of Epilogues. one for each book that this crossover effects. instead of having somebody else write and draw the epilogue each creative team responsible is writing their own epilogues. for instance the epilogue that most affects all new X-Men is going to be handled by myself and Stuart. I know there is a website that has been bending over backwards for months to sell the idea that this event is behind schedule or that the scripts never came in, ridiculous, but we are now on issue eight of 10 and they had all shipped on time and they had all shipped with the creative team that was solicited. I'm so sorry to that rumormongering bullshit artist, but I think at this point you know you received bad Intel.
That doesn't, however tally with reports received regarding affected artists driven to impossible deadlines, Frank Cho's Facebooked process or changes from solicits, such as the added inkers above, and Immonen on BOTA #1. It is, however, a testament to the hard working creators at Marvel.]
Cable And X-Force #16 will now be drawn by Gerardo Enrique Sandoval Perez.
Daredevil #33 will no longer be drawn by Chris Samnee.
The Other Dead #2 will now be drawn by Sam Shearon, not Qing Ping Mui.
Justice League Of America #8 has added Tom Nguyen, Keith Champagne and Marc Deering to solicited inker Christian Alamy.
Ben Oliver is now drawing the last few pages of Batman/Superman #4.
Batwoman #24 has added credits for Sandu Florea and Derek Fridoes as finishers over Trevor McCarthy's art.
