I had the opportunity this last weekend to walk the Long Beach Comic & Horror Con. The past 3 years I have attended as a budding young (well old) artist and enjoyed my time in the Artist Alley. From the veteran creators of the comic industry to the new faces looking to tell their own stories, there is an overall drive of creativity, energy and passion for the comic medium. The diversity of styles, content, ages and viewpoints just show how much people love comics. I took this time walking the isle of the Artist Alley to interview a wide range of creators, all of whom are very driven, thoughtful and extremely passionate.

I love reading and writing comics. I just finished my first published mini-series, The Adventures of a Comic Con Girl, which is about my experiences at comic book conventions, along with those of my two cohorts, Tatiana the cosplayer and Molly the model. I grew up reading comics and watching genre series with my sister and dad, so I couldn't be more stoked to be writing what I love.

My favorite thing is making readers smile and laugh by writing stories that can be drawn into beautiful pages. As a child comic books filled me with such awe and wonder; that's something that I want to pass on. My least favorite thing is the struggle to get noticed with all of the competition. There are a lot of great authors out there.

My first project, The Adventures of a Comic Con Girl, took one year to complete from the time I started the script to holding the first issue in my hand.

What does success mean to you in regards to creating comics?

Being able to bring the fans stories they love and find meaningful. Everything I write touches me, and I want it to touch other people.

What should people expect from your work?

A lot of it. I love writing comics and plan to keep doing so as long as I can.
