David Tennant's Doctor Who to Meet Jodie Whittaker's Doctor in 2020 – in the Comics
Over the weekend, Doctor Who comic book writer Jody Houser had some news about the second year of the Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor series, starting in January, just after the Krampus-fighting Christmas Special two-parter in November and December (or both in November for Local Comic Shop Day participants.)
Titan Comics' deal with BBC Worldwide for Doctor Who comic books was restricted this past year. With the appearance of Jodie Whittaker as The Thirteenth Doctor, Titan Comics were forbidden to publish any new stories featuring other Doctors, so as to give the Thirteenth Doctor a run without being compared to tales of other Doctors on the stands. And so we got one title a month, rather than the handful we have had in recent years.
But with Year Two, the training wheels are off a bit. And revealed at New York Comic Con, in Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor: Year Two, the Thirteenth Doctor will officially meet the Tenth Doctor, as portrayed by David Tennant, for the first time – in the pages of the Doctor Who comic book.
And his is not the only familiar face, we will also see the return of Martha Jones, as portrayed by Freema Agyeman.
As well as the return of The Weeping Angels too. Don't blink. Jodie.
Look for this all to start kicking off in January 2020, by which time we should know about the expected return of the TV series for its new season on the BBC.
