Denver Comic Con '15: Who Would Win?
William Wood writes from Denver Comic Con 2015,
Fans get their blood pumping early Saturday at Denver Comic Con starting with the "Versus!" panel presented by Youreamonster.com. From Luke Skywalker vs Poison Ivey to a final showdown between Iron Man and Wonder Woman, panelists lead a packed room full of fans through a "what if?" of beat down battles between a who's who of pop culture personalities.
The battle begins. Venom is no match For Iron Man's ability to generate sonic disruption and Poison Ivey plants Luke Skywalker in a surprise failing of the force. Wonder Woman leaves Experiment 626 needing stitches and Master Chief can't muggle his way through the magic of Dumbledore.
With all of the excitement building for the second round, fans are treated to an exhibition battle of bedside manners in which Baymax shows Doctor House the power of love. A young fan wearing a bow tie and fez, shows his superior intellect with the logical reason for the automaton's achievement by declaring "Baymax has Lollipops".
Dan Fankhauser, panelist for youreamonster.com, says the best think about the "Versus" panel is the ability of the audience to be so thoughtful and serious in their arguments and picking winners for reasons the rest of the panel never dreamed. The rest of the youreamonster.com panel consists of Eric Sorenson, Danielle Wik, Justin Schroeder and Andrew Nelson. The panel enjoys encouraging audience participation and giving as many of the all ages group as possible a chance to be heard. In the end, the winner is chosen by the fans that can generate the most noise after hearing all of the arguments.
Round 2 Iron Man easily weeds out Poison Ivy and Wonder Woman is too much of a warrior for a magician as her magic lasso wins over Dumbledore's magic wand.
In the final round, Wonder Woman and Iron Man meet on the battle field. Bracelets decidedly deflect the unibeam, Iron Man hopes to get the Amazon airborne and drag her into space, but Wonder Woman's mettle is ultimately too much for an Iron Man. Not even a rally in the audience from last year's champion, Deadpool, could save Stark from getting pinned by the Themysciran Princess. However, who's to say that wasn't his plan all along.
Before anyone can catch their breath, one more tag team exhibition makes a show. Rocket and Groot take the arena to put to rest the old adage "Let the Wookiee win" as they face Han Solo and Chewbacca. The battle is glorious with a space shoot out and dueling spaceships. Sadly for Star Wars fans, the rebellion falls again. Han may shoot first, but Rocket shoots last, with a bigger gun and may even have Luke's mechanical hand for no good reason.
