Diamond Presents The Comic Book Industry To C2E2
Presented at the Diamond Retailer Breakfast ahead of C2E2 this morning by Diamond Comic Distributors themselves, we got a look at the current comic book retailer marketplace from the horse's mouth.
So the good news is that 2015 was 6% up on 2014. Though no commentary on that 2016's sales are, so far down…
However it's good news that the there are 2713 comic book stores ordering comics through Diamond in 2015, over 2613 in 2014. That's 100 more comic book shops in the USA, year on year.
Diamond also launched their retailer suggestion box.
I can hear Dennis Barger and Cliff Bigger's fingers twitching already. And the FOC Adjust Page of the now has the exact quantities a retailer needs to order of a title to qualify for additional variant covers or incentive discounts. incentive editions.
And, for those who currently pay by cheque – and are happy to provide Diamond with your bank details, the ability to make direct electronic payments.
And a better way for retailers to find what they need.
The new "Hey Kids" activity guide offers retailers a new tool to help get younger customers (and their parents) excited about kid-friendly comics. The 32 page, full colour issue features activity pages, preview pages of upcoming comics, a Reading Guide to the best kids comics for this summer, activity suggestions for parents and kids, and more. Diamond suggested that the 2016 Hey Kids! Comics! Reading & Activity Guide be given away for Free Comic Book Day, Children's Book Week, or given to parents and kids looking for recommendations for the summer holidays.
And ComicSuite Lite was announced as being available in the next few weeks for retailers that do not yet use the ComicSuite management software system.
