Will Dinesh Shamdasani Seduce Youngblood Away From Andrew Rev?
Dinesh Shamdasai, former head of Valiant Entertainment before he was fired in the wake of DMG's full purchase of the publisher, is having quite the life, He's been hands-on making the new Bloodshot movie starring Vin Diesel, in both South Africa and London. He's got his hands in plenty of pies – comics, TV, film and more, including the Hivemind studio. And he tweets about the geekiest of his finds along the way.
Such as picking up a first printing of Dr Frederick Wertham's Seduction Of The Innocent, the tome that doomed the nascent comic book industry in the fifties.
Nice find. But Andrew Rev of Terrific Production had something else to discuss. He has recently acquired the full rights tp Youngblood, and managed to alienate Youngblood creator Rob Liefeld in the process. And plenty of other creators too.
Since obtaining the rights to Youngblood, Terrific has been actively recruiting on Twitter, even offering to take young up-and-comers like Ryan Stegman and turn them into stars. Terrific has even made overtures toward Alan Moore, as well as David Lapham, James Tynion IV, Brian Wood, Evan Dorkin, Chris Claremont and Jim Lee amongst others, become a partner of Image Comics and take over failing comic book stores.
But it can make for some rubbernecking… as out of the blue, Rev started grilling Dinesh.
But Dinesh had his own games to play.
Apparently this was an inappropriate question to ask.
But this is Dinesh they are playing with….
And no one was enjoying this back and forth more than Donny Cates…
So it's official then. Whatever Terrific Production says, Dinesh Shamdasani is buying Youngblood. In fact he probably has. Well, I suppose there is nothing more than Dinesh owning Youngblood that would make a Deathmate revival even less likely.
