Will Doomsday Clock #12 Set Up DC Comics 5G… But Only in Six Years?
I haven't read Doomsday Clock #12 yet – well, other than the first six pages. But clearly other people have. I know, right?
Now Bleeding Cool has been covering in as much depth as we have been able to uncover, something at DC Comics called 5G. We first got a whiff back in June, without anything to attach it to, just the name.
And then when covering the DC Comics Timeline reveal, it clicked. Four Generations of DC Comics superhero history. And 5G was what came next.
And that, in turn, tied into what we'd been hearing about DC Comics getting a new Batman, Luke Fox to replace Bruce Wayne, and an ageing up of the DC Comics main characters in line with the new timeline. We started to hear about Jonathan Kent being the new Superman, Captain Boomerang Jr being the new Flash, Jo Mullein being the New Green Lantern, and on. But would Doomsday Clock be playing a part, showing us all the shifting timelines and generations as it had been doing? At least one big popular conspiracy theory that we collated and republished tied everything out this Wednesday in with that.
Well, apparently 5G is mentioned in Doomsday Clock #12. But just as one of a number of scenarios named as happening in the future of the DC Universe and six years from now. Will we have to wait that long? Is it all just a bait and switch? Have things changed – or were they never in the first place?
The Crisis and the Band-Aid 2020 are coming of course. Don't expect a hard reboot in 2020, but a lot of playing around with stories and characters around the margins, which starts with Doomsday Clock #12… with a live Alfred Pennyworth and everything. But big changes will still be coming in 2021.
