From All Of Us In The Sky Above, We Say Thanks To You

Hello There, my name is Claudio Sepulveda the creator /artist of The Tears of the Cherubs, as a young child I was really immersed into the super hero genre. I just couldn't missed the old Superman cartoons, it was the same with Batman with Adam West and so many others, as I was getting older I was exposed to actual comic books. I really didn't know many places that sold them where I live, so I begin collecting what I could, at that time I only knew what Marvel and DC had out there, but I must say that everything changed when I first saw Valiant comics, Mantra and Prime, after that in 1997 I discovered Image comics and after that Top Cow, but after coming across Ascension by David Finch I was hooked.

IMG_20150511_184326I definitely wanted to do Comics for a living, but the road is hard and there are numerous ups and downs, and as a teenage boy trying his best to get there and not getting anything it was frustrating and a letdown. So, I decided to stop submitting and dedicate myself to drawing until I felt that my work was strong enough. A few years passed and I finally left the Finch Style and tried to make my own version, combining Manga with American comic book art, but again things just didn't look very good for that style, but for the first time I was comfortable with it and I developed it further, it's not that I invented it, but I just didn't want it to look like something that I had already seen. I wanted it to be different. After going to several conventions and looking at the big names I kind of grew tired of the same thing, they just didn't seem to let go of the popular characters, and especially Spider-Man, and other companies were only trying to clone them.

IMG_20150515_154633So, I decide to go to the Independent comics side, and I started looking at some really great ideas, really if you want to find something that will make you laugh, cry or etc, Independent comics are the best for it, cause they are what people want to show to the world, and not to be censored by anything just because they want to sell. Yeah, we want to be known by many people but still we want to do what we love to do, so after working on some titles for companies (Zenescope, Arch-Enemy, Emancipation Studios and Bluewater Productions) what I ultimately wanted to do was make my own stories. Basically I'm fascinated by angels and yeah they are my main characters in The Tears Of The Cherebs. I also have another title named Dreamtown, but that's another story.

IMG_20150519_152248Years passed and I still didn't have anything completed and it wasn't until 2010 that I had my inspiration. I was going to be a Dad, the illusion of it really got me and I was really happy. Ideas for a children's book were actually flowing, but then yeah well things don't always seem to be great and we lost that illusion. After that coming out of that hole was hard but it was decide that I was going to dedicate this book to that illusion, to the All Saints Day I was meant to do it, that's why this project is very dear to me, that's why I'm looking forward to getting it funded via Kickstarter.

IMG_20150522_165833Not just to have a title out there but to share this story with the world. Finally, two years later, I became a Dad, and it has been the most wonderful feeling in the world, and as I continue drawing and making ideas I just can't leave this book go, because I want to share with everyone what is to take care of our children, why protecting someone yet so small and fragile till they are all grown up, it makes us feel great, and scared, this is that story, these are 6 different stories, 6 different situations where kids look for the answers in a semi apocalyptic world, where Religion, Fantasy and Science clash. Join us on this quest for printing this one of a kind unique comic book, The Tears of the Cherubs is an independent comic book, offering an alternative story to the modern comic book world.
