A Government Experiment Leads To New Skills In John Flood

You might remember when Justin Jordan exploded onto the comics scene four years ago with The Strange Talent of Luther Strode. Well, now it's time for another epic project. BOOM! Studios brings us John Flood #1, written by Justin Jordan, with art by Jorge Coelho (Polarity, Sleepy Hollow). The story follows main character John Flood who no longer needs to sleep as a result of a government experiment. Sounds like a good deal right? Well, think twice. Now, John is in a constant dream state and can't always tell what's real and what isn't. With that comes a side effect that allows him to see patterns and make connections no one else can, which leads to a new career as a make-shift PI. Together with a burly ex-cop, Flood begins to investigate a man responsible for thousands of unsolved murders, but doing so brings him some unwanted attention…

Said to be perfect for fans of Desolation Jones and Sherlock Holmes, John Flood will be an exciting release from BOOM! Studios. When I read the description, I did immediately think of Sherlock Holmes, but I also thought of Image's Chew. While I haven't read the more current issues, I do remember the basis being focused on the main characters ability to learn about unsolved crimes by eating things. John Flood sounds less gross. It's funny because I think every single person in my immediate circle of friends has said that they wish they didn't require sleep. Perhaps it's something tons of people have contemplated, and now we will be able to see some creative repercussions. Be sure to look for John Flood #1 when it arrives in comic book stores this August.
