How Doctor Strange And Scarlet Witch Both Get Closer To Constantine Today

The Doctor Strange comic has been relaunched ahead of the new movie. Doctor Strange now looks a little younger, sprightlier, he's basically been Cumberbatched.

But if you were looking for something less troublesome, you came to the wrong place. Instead, while in today's issue we travel to the Himalayas, we get something a little closer to Constantine.

Both this comic and Scarlet Witch have recently emphasised that there is a price to pay for casting magic. Spells don't come cheap, there has to be preparation and a lot of work to snap those fingers, and a price to be paid afterwards as well – physically and mentally. The kind of thing more common in Hellblazer – though John Constantine often finds a way to cheat.

So in today's Doctor Strange we head East to find out where Doctor Strange's recent magic is coming from, how he can heal so quickly and how it is being masterminded by "faithful servant" Wong, making inhumane decisions that his master need not concern himself about.

So secret that Doctor Strange doesn't even know about them… or at least has plausible deniability.
IMG_0026Wong is using up people to heal Doctor Strange, to provide his magic, to keep him going.

Most of us don't like to think how our iPads and Androids are made either. It's all basically magic, but someone far away, usually to the east of us, pays the price. Very Hellblazer.

But how is Scarlet Witch like Hellblazer today?

Scarlet Witch (2015-) 003-010

Well, it's drawn by Steve Dillon and set in an Irish pub.

Scarlet Witch (2015-) 003-011

With a Scarlet Witch who looks a little like Kit. Oh and things end up a bit like most pubs in Hellblazer too…Scarlet Witch (2015-) 003-016

Now, maybe Hellblazer could start looking a bit more like Hellblazer….
