Image Comics' October Marketshare Jumps To 12.28%

Image-Comics-LogoI understand that October comic book marketshare for North American direct market stores, to be revealed later this week, will reveal that Image Comics will have a unit marketshare of 12.28%.

Which means that Image has a 12.28% of all comic books sold in that market in October, though the share of dollars is likely to be lower, as more Image titles are $2.99 are $3.50 than the more common $3.99.

But why so high? Well, the debut of Scott Snyder and Jocks' Wytches #1 will have helped, selling around 90,000 copies. And it's not the only Image Comics title doing well.

UPDATE: Oh yes, as we first reported, Walking Dead was in the Loot Crate last month… which might also have really helped numbers!

But it does also mean that Image's unit marketshare will be higher than that of Dark Horse, IDW, Boom and Dynamite – combined.

Something I'm sure Publisher Eric Stephenson will be happy to repeat at Image Expo in 2015.
