It Looks Like Marvel Will Keep Collecting Dawn of X as One TPB Series

In Marvel's December solicitations, we learned that Marvel would release the first issues of all of the Dawn of X titles. 280 pages for $24.99, and a neat way to follow-up the HoXPoX relaunch event.

But what about after that? Would Marvel then switch to collecting each series individually? Apparently not. Revealed in Marvel's February solicitations today, Dawn of X will continued to be collected as a group, with two trade paperbacks shipping in February: Dawn of X Vol. 2 and 3, though these will be a little cheaper at $18 each.

It's certainly an interesting way to go, and we kinda like it, as people who read all the X-Books anyway. For those who only read one or some of the titles, this could be an aggravating way to collect the books, forcing them to buy every series (and just one issue per trade, so essentially serialized in the same way the single issues are).

Of course, Marvel may decide to collect the series individually later, but then the wait will be even longer for people who want to buy it that way. But if they continue to do it this way, it could solve a lot of problems for new readers, as Marvel's current trade paperback program is less than ideal when it comes to having an easy-to-understand reading order.

It would be even more interesting to see comics released this way first, anthology-style, rather than as single issues collected later, but baby steps here.
