Forest Kids, by Laia López, is her English-language debut in the form of a middle-grade graphic novel series. In Forest Kids, Arielle, a young resident of the Wisteria Woodlands, sets off on an adventure to save her home from a dark magical force that corrupts everything it touches. Along the way, she meets four other enchanted children and discovers that the Woodlands are hiding a secret far beyond any of their imaginations.
Alex Lu at Random House Graphic has bought world rights to the first three books and the first book will be published in 2027. Laia López's agent, Britt Siess, at Britt Siess Creative Management, negotiated the deal.
Laia López is a Spanish artist with a following of over 1.3 million on Instagram as well as her illustrated novels, Strawberry Moon and Royalty Witches, and her artbook, Gleaming—The art of Laia López. She studied Fine Arts in Barcelona and, after graduating, worked within the Spanish publishing industry for publishers such as Random House. And now, it is Random House publishing her new graphic novel series.

The expansion of children's graphic novels is fuelling all manner of publishers extending into the comics medium. Right now, it seems like an infinite market that is being tapped into, and creating longstanding comic book readers for decades to come. It is not for nothing that kids' graphic novels in bookstores are being referred to as the newsstand of the twenty-first century.
