Marvel Comics Cancels Strikeforce in August With #9

Marvel's Avengers spinoff Strikeforce was a title affected by Marvel's shutdown earlier in the year, but had its eighth issue rescheduled this week. The ninth issue is scheduled for August the 5th. But that will be it. Marvel will be ending the series and cancelling its solicited Strikeforce #10, originally intended to be an Empyre tie-in and published in June. But not any more. Co-creator Tini Howard tweeted in response "This made sense to me – our final issue was an Empyre tie in, and by the time things picked back up, #10 wouldn't have been completed in time for the event. But damn, it was a good one. Thanks for trusting me."

Marvel Comics announced the series in June 2019: "Doing the dirty jobs the Avengers and other Marvel heroes can't do! Angela, Blade, Spider-Woman, Wiccan, the Winter Soldier, Monica Rambeau, and Daimon Hellstrom join forces for a monsterific bloodbath from the dark mind of rising star Tini Howard. Prepare for a tale from the underside of the Marvel Universe in STRIKEFORCE!" Ahead of its time, the comic book told a story in which the Avengers respond to threats to release dangerous biological weapons into the atmosphere to infect the population. Here's the solicit for the now-final issue.
