Moonstone To Publish Doc Savage: The Frightened Fish Hardcover
Moonstone Books is a Chicago based publisher that prints both comics and prose. They tend to specialize in classic pulp characters like The Phantom, The Green Hornet and The Avenger as well as more obscure characters like Domino Lady and Boston Blackie.
Now the publisher is offering up a story that has been out of print for twenty years and has never been published in a hardcover. Doc Savage: The Frightened Fish is set near the end of the hero's career and the story is consistent with author Lester Dent's (writing as Kenneth Robeson) later work. Written from Dent's notes, author Will Murray tells the tale of the early cold war and a sequel to Dent's celebrated The Red Spider. The Man of Bronze grew over his fifteen year pulp career and the later stories featured a more mature and sophisticated hero.
Fans of the classic pulp Doc Savage stories will want to check this out as Doc confronts a surprise returning villain and the possible start of World War III.
