NYCC Valiant: We All Love Rai, The H.A.R.D Corps Meat Grinder, And The Julian Assange Of The Valiant Universe
Liveblogging legend-in-the-making Pete Sailer took on the Valiant panel earlier today:
Last Question from a very intense Bloodshot cosplayer: "In terms of violent content, how do you get that past censors?"
Simmons: "I don't show the books to anyone and then they have to publish them."
Q: What are your plans to bringing comics to more female readers?
A: "Livewire" Crowd laughs
Kindt: "There are too many dudes in this room. I think it's very important to have strong female characters."
When will Greg and Fred have a team-up?
Dinesh: "I don't know. Ask Dynamite."
They did have a great team up in Incredible Herc though.
Simmons is an "obsessive" fan of Trinity Angels.
Q: "In 4,001 AD, will we see Rai?
Simons: "Maybe."
Q: "So can I take that as a yes?"
Simmons: "I love Rai. You can take it as that. We all love Rai."

Q: Did you push Livewire away to make room for her appearance in Unity?
Simmons: "Yes."
Kindt: "Livewire is my favorite character in all of Unity." Crowd bursts in laughter. "What about Ninjak?"
Kindt: "Oh yeah…except for Ninjak."
Q: Are there any announcements for a Ninjak series?
A: I would say if you're a Ninjak, check out Unity. Kindt: "Ninjak is my favorite. He's a little bit of a jerk, but he's awesome."
Simmons: "We have huge huge plans for Ninjak after the first arc."
Dinesh asserts that Valiant is a comic publisher first and foremost, but have plans for films and outside licenses.
However, Dinesh's mantra is "Slow and steady. Focus on quality. Focus on publishing."
Second Q: Will there be other returns of original continuity like Q2?
A: Q2 is a very specific case because Priest and Bright's voice was so strong on the original title. Will not focus on the original Valiant continuity.
First Question: Will there be crossovers between the Gold Key characters at Dynamite and Valiant?
Dinesh: There will be no crossovers. We are very excited for Greg and Fred, but we have no plans.
All the new arcs will have a "Must Read Valiant" banner. In January, Valiant will release a Must Read Valiant issue featuring the very best issues. 120 pages, 6 dollars. Will be heavily discounted for retailers.
Expect to hear more about the history of Project Rising Spirit.
Bart Sears will be illustrating Bloodshot #18 and #19.
Alejandro knows all the lines of Total Eclipse of the Heart in Spanish.
Most badass Bloodshot line: "You do not take from me, Harada. I take from you. I am the psiot killer."
Gorinson: "No one is safe on the H.A.R.D. Corps. One way ticket to the meat grinder."
Alejandro on "Get Some": Will encounter a rival team of psiot mercs to protect the corporate interests of an oil company. Issue #19 features a new villain named "Big Boy."
Bloodshot and H.A.R.D. Corps #15 will introduce "the very intense members of the H.A.R.D. Corpts. Nothing quite like them in superhero comics."
New arc in Issue #18 "Get Some"
Clayton Henry: Ax is "very much the Julian Assange of the Valiant Universe." Believes all information should be free. Knows exactly what Harada has been up to the whole time.
Return of the harbinger Ax who in the original Valiant Universe had the power to talk to machines. In #20, Harada, Pete and Ax will go to war.
Pete and the Renegades will take the fight directly to the Harbinger Foundation. Direct follow-up to Harbinger Wars.
Simmons: "First 7 pages of Harbinger #20 may redefine the Valiant Universe."
Clayton Henry will be joining Harbinger in the arc "Resistance" in Issue #20 following the arc "Perfect Day"
Harbinger #17 will focus on the character Monica Jim (Animalia) who has the power to create solid representations of cartoon characters.
Pak on Eternal Warrior: "There's this mystical entity called the Earth, but who's to say there aren't other mystical entities with other interests."
Pak on Eternal Warrior #5: "You're going to see an entirely new world in which the purpose of the Eternal Warrior may be even more critical…"
Greg announces The Coming of 4001 A.D in Eternal Issue #5. Crowd bursts into applause. Expect to meet a very different Gilad Anni-padda
Greg Pak on Eternal Warrior: "Who says the Earth really cares about human beings? The Earth itself has its own objectives."
Eternal Warrior will buy AK-47′s at Walmart in Issue #3.
Gorinson introduces Chris Cross, artist of Bloodshot.
Shadowman #13 will have a new creative team, Peter Milligan and Roberto De La Torre.

Someone else will put the X-O Manowar armor on in Unity #5.
Alejandro Arbona will be editing Priest and Bright's "Q2: The Return of Quantum and Woody"
Unity #1 will be an over-sized 30 page issue.
Braithwaite on Kindt: "One of the best scripts I've read."
Matt Kindt on Braithwaite's art in Unity: "I felt bad because they looked so cool and then they died so horribly."
Warren Simmons on Unity: "Unity is our first team book filled with superstars."
Matt Kindt on Unity: "No fastball special with Ninjak and Eternal Warrior." Sorry guys…
Quantum and Woody modern run will start a new arc "In Security" in issue #5 with art by Ming Doyle. Tom Fowler will be illustrating a very secret Quantum and Woody project in the future.
Unfortunately, there is no goat in the Priest and Bright mini-series. HOWEVER, the goat is very present in the modern run.
In the beginning of the story, Quantum and Woody have not seen each other in years. Quantum begins working with a new teenage sidekick. Woody thinks Quantum is recklessly endangering the life of a minor and sabotages the new team.
Warren Simmons: "First seven pages of the first issue Bright has drawn are some of my favorite pages the company has published to date."
Set in original continuity twenty years later.
