Batman/Superman – Thursday Trending Topics

Batman/Superman team-up in Superman 76Something about the concept of a Batman/Superman collaboration has always intrigued me. Perhaps it's the contrast between the two characters.  Superman #76, the first real team-up of the two from 1952 (and an outstanding story it is), has long been one of my favorite Golden Age comics, so I'm looking forward to the latest incarnation of this pairing in Batman/Superman: Now, according a USA Today article written with DC Comics, Batman/Superman is to be a new book by Greg Pak making his DC debut and fresh-off-of-Before Watchmen, Jae Lee.

Originally it was to have been a book by Brad Meltzer and Bryan Hitch, with a planned announcement at New York Comic Con last year. Now, according a USA Today article written with DC Comics, Batman/Superman is to be a new book by Greg Pak making his DC debut and fresh-off-of-Before WatchmenJae Lee.

Batwoman 17 To Dominate Media For DC Comics Today [Spoilers]

Okay, so this is a story. It rather spoils the end of Batwoman #17, by JH Williams III and W Haden Blackman out today. Normally I'm extremely reluctant to spoil the end of a comic, and while this is one of those times that I think justifies it, it's not going to be in the headline, the first paragraph or in the search tags.

When Comics Predict The Very-Near Future

Comics have had a habit of eerily predicting the very near future, with ironic juxtapositions for the death of Princess Diana and the events of 9/11, both published around the time of the events. This might be another to add to the list.

Most-Read TV/Film Stories Today – Doctor Who

Sorry Doctor Who Fans, There Really Is Just One Anniversary Episode Coming

An extensive video interview with Steven Moffat was screened at the Gallifrey One convention this weekend. It's a very interesting clip, and you can watch the whole thirteen minutes or so at the foot of this story.

The Week In TV Ratings – We're Going Down, Both The Following And Community Fall

With a couple of season-lows, a bad premiere, The President saying things and a holiday, I think it's likely the networks would rather write this week off altogether.

Red Band Trailer For Spring Breakers

Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers promises amoral youths doing immoral things. I wonder, though, if the film itself might actually pack a moral. It seems to be that kind of story.

The Deathmatch Planning Of Justice League Of America #1 (SPOILERS)

There are spoilers for Justice League Of America #1 and for Justice League #17 here. Two for the price of one.

Comics Market Bigger Now Than In Any Time Since The Early Nineties – And It's Thanks To The Comic Shop

Through a combination of addition, a little guesswork and a few entertaining assumptions, John Jackson Miller has one again given us an esitimate of comic publisher's revenue in 2012, namely $715 million. Which is about 5% higher than 2011 and, he estimates, the highest point the industry has reached since 1994/1994, though of course this does not take into account inflation… which would make it a rather less impressive statistic.
