Charlie Brooker Wins Best Comedy Entertainment Personality. You Know, Like Bruce Forsyth (UPDATE x13)
Charlie Brooker hates you. He hates everyone. He hates everything. From his early games journalism to his TV Go Home parody, he has poured his bile on the populace, not so much with a bucket but with a sick-sewage sprinkler system set to max.
And whether on his series of Wipe programmes, Newswipe, Screenwipe, Gameswipe, or from his hate filled rants on 10 O'Clock Live, as well as writing the likes of Nathan Barley, Dead Set, A Touch of Cloth and Black Mirror, we have all grown to know Charlie Brooker a lot better.
And we love him.
He has just won Best Comedy Entertainment Personality at the British Comedy Awards on Channel 4.You know, like Bruce Forsyth, Ant and Dec or Michael McIntyre might.
Which means he must really, really hate himself right now.

We'll run the rest of the winners as updates below as they are announced….

Winner: Hunderby, the incredibly dark period piece sitcom written by and starring Nighty Night's Julia Davis.

BEST MALE TV COMIC
Winner: LEE MACK. Apparently people like him on panel show Would I Lie To You, and the sitcom he writes and stars in, Not Going Out.

BEST COMEDY ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMME
Winner: HARRY HILL'S TV BURP. This brilliant mash up and satire of current television for a tea-time audience turned a surreal cult comedian into a household name. Its fourth award for its eleventh and final year. And an old friend of mine, Daniel Maier, writer on the show, went up to accept it! And kept it away from Keith Lemon…

BEST COMEDY BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST
Winner: MORGANA ROBINSON. The impressionist show reinvented yet again with Very Important People. And a Danny Dyer I can actually watch.

BEST TV COMEDY ACTRESS
Winner: REBECCA FRONT. It was The Thick Of It series 4 that won her this award. The episode where she breaks down on a train heading north, while trying to avoid a Twitter-happy journalist was fried gold.

THE WRITERS GUILD OF GREAT BRITAIN
Winners: VIC REEVES & BOB MORTIMER. There we go. Vic and Bob transformed British comedy in the nineties, in much the was that The Goons, Monty Pytrhon and The Young Ones had done decades before. An amazing legacy, so glad they've been recognised for their writing as well as performing.
Bob Mortimer decided to thank "so many… so many dealers"…

BEST NEW COMEDY PROGRAMME
Winner: HUNDERBY. As before…

BEST FEMALE TV COMIC
Winner: JO BRAND. I love Jo Brand. So much so I used to own her Spitting Image puppet. Don't ask. Her work on sitcom Getting On has been stellar…

BEST SKETCH SHOW
Winner: CARDINAL BURNS. Written by and starring Seb Cardinal and Dustin Demri-Burns this was a straight-from-Edinburgh-Festival-straight-to-TV success story.

PEOPLE'S AWARD – KING OF COMEDY
Winner: Jack Whitehall. Yeah, let's leave it at that.
BEST TV COMEDY ACTOR
Winner: PETER CAPALDI. The man who plays Malcom Tucker in The Thick Of It and who put a new word in the dictonary this year… omnishambles. But for me it will always be the marvellous "come the fuck in or fuck the fuck off!"

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT TO COMEDY
Winner: SACHA BARON COHEN. From Ali G to Borat to Bruno to The Dictator… and presented by Sir Ben Kingsley, doing his best Ali G impression too!
