Chew To Become Showtime TV Comedy

Chew To Become Showtime TV ComedyWe knew that John Layman and Rob Guillory's Chew from Image Comics was heading for the TV sereen in some form or other. Well now Deadline's TV Editor Nellie Andreeva confirms that it's to be a half hour comedy series on Showtime.

Set in a world where chicken is prohibited after avian flu outbursts, it follows the life of Tony Chu, who can sense the life cycle of banything he eats, from a cow back to the abbatoir, an orange from the tree or who killed the murder victim by licking their blood.

Californication's Stephen Hopkins is director and executive producer and the deal was set up at Circle of Confusion, who did the say with Image stable-mate, Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's The Walking Dead and previous Image stable-mate Brian Bendis and Mike Oeming's Powers.

Chew #1 is already a $200 comic. Look for that to soar…
