Eric Heisserer, No Longer Writing For Valiant After DMG Buyout, Changes to Harbinger Wars 2
When Harbinger Wars 2, the Valiant summer event for 2018 was first promoted, it had a very bold format. Each issue would be 44 pages long, with 22 pages written by Matt Kindt and drawn by Tomás Giorello and 22 pages written by Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer and drawn by Raúl Allen, for $3.99 each issue. And it would run over 4 issues. With the first issue out the Wednesday before Free Comic Book Day.
Then Chinese investment company DMG bought Valiant Entertainment.
And now it is a six issue series just by Matt Kindt and Tomás Giorello with a Prelude by Eric Heisserer, Raúl Allén, and Patricia Martín.
I understand that Eric Heisserer stopped writing for Valiant the same day that ex-CEO Dinesh Shamdasani was pushed out by the new DMG management (sorry, read, contractually forced resignation). His one written script has become the prelude. And now Matt Kindt will write the whole thing, as well as a new Epilogue. Don't expect Eric to write any more for the publisher.
It means a change for the series. But the big idea for Harbinger Wars 2, a story told like an actual world war, with two fronts of action being told by two creative teams each issue – is no longer.
