First Look At Ezra, One Of The Main Characters Of Star Wars: Rebels

While there's still not much Episode VII news, there's still plenty of Star Wars to satiate your appetite before December 2015.

First there's The Clone Wars, just announced to be heading to Netflix for its sixth season for your binge-viewing pleasure. That premieres in March and then, in the fall, there's Star Wars: Rebels.

The new animated series takes place between Return of the Sith and A New Hope and tracks the formation of the Rebel Alliance in challenge to an increasingly more powerful Empire. Today TV Guide has unveiled the first look at Ezra, a charismatic teenage con artist who gets drawn to fight for the Rebels, and who's one of the main characters on the series. That's him in the photo above.

When we first meet Ezra, he's been taking care of himself for years, and is just figuring out how to use his mysterious new powers. He has no interest in becoming a revolutionary, but of course that doesn't last long. Exec producer Dave Filoni tells TV Guide:

With Ezra we see how a kid is reacting to this imperial rule. That becomes a big question: What is imperial rule like? We've seen it in the movies with a big rebellion that ends up blowing up the Death Star, but do we just assume that when the Empire took over in Revenge of the Sith it was seen as a bad thing? I would challenge that. It wasn't this terrible thing that came in and was cruel to everyone all at once. It was slow to build its power base and spread out, and then we get to see the rebel alliance it affects, and the repercussions of that tyranny.

Star Wars: Rebels will premiere as a one-hour special on The Disney Channel before segueing over to its weekly series home on Disney XD. Here's another look at Ezra…
