Gareb Shamus To Sell His Shares In Wizard World

Gareb Shamus To Sell His Shares In Wizard WorldHe may have resigned as CEO, President and the like from Wizard World. But some have wondered as to what involvement in the company Gareb Shamus. Put bluntly, what exactly does he own?

I think it's fair to say that through a series of events, some public, some not, Gareb Shamus has become tainted in the eyes of some of the comics industry. I've always found him a personable individual, and while I'm had no problems with he man, but I know many who have. So there are some suspicions of a new Wizard World that, even without his direct involvement, will only line his pockets.

So I asked.

I understand that while Gareb Shamus does not own a majority share of the Wizard World now, he does own a significant portion – but that he will be divesting himself of most of it, selling his shares to the newly appointed CEO taking over in January. I couldn't get the figures – the company is currently in the process of filing their  SEC – but I understand this will leave Shamus with minimal interest in the company.

Wizard World will also be expanding their digital offerings – upgrading the website, launching a new social network in the spring of 2012, their first Flash game Fly Like A Hero and will see ToyWiz and the Def Jam music production joining their network and launching a new advertising network to fund it all.

They will however not be returning to the print magazine market.
