Numbercrunching Marvel February 2011 Solicitations

Here's the headlines, based on Marvel Comics solicitation information for February.

Marvel Comics (minus the licensed and Icon titles) now publish more $2.99 comics than they do $3.99 comics.

Marvel are printing half as many $3.99 22 page comics in February as they will for December, and a third less than they will for January.

Unlike December to January, there has not been a massive drop in the number of Marvel titles in February. However the price per page has dropped by almost one cent over all.

The increase of 22 page comics at $2.99 is primarily down to the Point One jumping on point issues starting, a number of $3.99 mini-series concluding, and number of $2.99 mini-series taking their place. Two issues of Incredible Hulks ship in February, now at $2.99 and other $2.99 titles include Venom/Deadpool by Rick Remender and Shawn Moll, Silver Surfer by Geg Pak and Stephen Segovia, Doctor Strange by Roger Stern and Neil Vokes, the first two issues of Power Man And Iron Fist by Fred Van Lente and Wellington Alves, Hawkeye Blindspot by Jim McCann and that wonderful creator TBA, and the first two issues of the new Arcade Death Game series by Paul Tobin and David Baldeon. However Iron Man, Fantastic Four and Astonishing X-Men are up to $3.99.

This is still not as great a change as DC have made to their titles. But it is a big one. And worthy of comment and acclaim.
