Quvenzhane Wallis Is The New Annie In First Trailer
Quvenzhane Wallis followed up her Oscar nomination – youngest Best Actress nominee ever, thank you very much – with a film decidedly different from Beasts of the Southern Wild.
Big budget, studio-backed, featuring an iconic character, Wallis has a lot of pressure to be the screen's latest Annie, that beloved little orphan who believes in sunshine and the hope of tomorrow. Well, this is a much more modern take, so even this 9 year old has a little more cynicism in her.
Jamie Foxx plays Benjamin Stacks, taking over for Daddy Warbucks, her would be benefactor, with Cameron Diaz playing the mean orphanage matron, Miss Hannigan, and making some, um, unusual acting choices, at least in this trailer.

The battle of the musicals is on this Christmas, with Annie getting the jump on Into the Woods by one week, opening December 19th to Rob Marshall's film's December 25th.
