Last Friday we did a poll about what this announcement might be, and it would appear that the collective wisdom of BCers got it right: Dan Slott with three artists, Ryan Stegman, Humberto Ramos and Giuseppe Camuncoli will be doing something new, presumably with Spider-Man, in January for Marvel NOW.

Neil Gaiman Pitched Sandman To George RR Martin In 1987 – And Was Blown Off
MTV News interviewed George RR Martin about Wild Cards, the series of intertwined superhero stories, and he talked about not getting Alan Moore on the books, but being pitched at San Diego Comic Con in 1987 by "this skinny British kid who dressed all in black" called Neil Gaiman who he blew off because Gaiman didn't have enough credits.

Last month saw both Marvel and DC benefiting from Walking Dead #100 not taking away their marketshare, and saw DC again beat Marvel on marketshare by dollar but also saw Marvel claw back the volume marketshare. But that was a five week month, in which Marvel generally does better by increasing product to fit the extra week.
