ConWatch: The Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival runs  from 10 am to 4 pm this Saturday at the Clark County Library.

ConWatch2: Whereas Bakersfield Comic-Con takes place on Sunday 10am to 4.30pm at the DoubleTree Hotel.

ConWatch3: But on Saturday and Sunday in Morrisville, there's a rather larger affair at the North Carolina Comicon with Howard Chaykin, Arthur Suydam,Steve Niles, Mike Perkins, Janet Lee, Scott Wegener, Brian Clevenger, Jeremy Bastian. WomenWatch: CNN asks about the perception of female comic book readers in the industry, talking to Brian Jacoby of Secret Headquarters Comics and Games.

That gave Jacoby an idea. In September, he threw a "Unicorn Party" at his shop to bring female geeks together and show the world that they are not mythological creatures. The place was packed with largely female customers, including some parents who brought their little girls.

ToyWatch: Mattel has renewed their toy licence with DC Comics for another five years.

"Under the terms of the deal, Mattel has unprecedented access to the complete DC Comics vault of characters, which includes over a thousand Super Heroes and Super Villains, such as Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Joker. The agreement also includes characters such as The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam!, Green Arrow and Hawkman…

"As part of the ongoing relationship, Mattel will develop toy ranges for Warner's upcoming films – the Dark Knight Rises on July 20th, 2012 and Man of Steel on June 14th, 2013, Man of Steel..

"Future television-based collaborations include Warner Bros Animation's series, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, along with ongoing product support for Young Justice…

"Mattel is now expanding this further with the addition of the new Little People product line that features DC Comics characters…

"In 2012, Mattel will partner with Diamond Comic Distributors to help extend its presence globally with exclusive European distribution rights for the DC Comics 6" action figure line."

SpiderMenaceWatch: The Consumerist notes just how many robberies re taking place with people wearing Spider-Man masks and notices a trend…

According to WQAD, the latest Spider-Man robbery took place at an Illinois gas station on Halloween, when two masked assailants stole cash from a register. Just as in a recent attempted robbery in North Carolina, one of the Illinois robbers was a sword-wielding Spider-Man imposter.

As the Huffington Post notes, there was a previous Spider-Man gas store robbery in Oklahoma City in August, although that assailant packed a gun rather than a sword.
